From planning your session to creating artwork for your home, I’ll guide you through every step.
Your Portrait Experience
This isn’t a shoot-and-send process. It’s a personal, guided experience designed to make creating meaningful portraits feel easy and fun!
1. Your Consultation & Planning Session
Every experience begins with an in-home or studio consultation. This is where I get to know your family and help you figure out what your dream portraits could look like—even if you aren’t quite sure yet.
Together, we’ll talk about:
The people and pets you want to include
Their personalities and relationships
What you most want these portraits to capture
Any concerns about children, pets or family members
Clothing, colors and styling
The location and overall feeling of your session
Where and how you may want to enjoy your portraits
I want to know who is shy, who loves the camera, who needs a little extra patience and who will do almost anything for a snack.
Why this matters: By the time we reach your session, I’m not meeting everyone for the first time with a camera in my hands. Your family already knows me, I understand what matters to you and I’m familiar with any concerns. That allows everyone to feel more comfortable—and helps me create the best portraits of your people.
2. Your Portrait Session
Because we’ve already planned everything together, you can arrive knowing that I have a vision for your session and a plan for bringing it to life.
I’ll guide you through flattering poses, expressions and groupings, so you never have to wonder what to do. But your session won’t feel stiff or overly rehearsed. I’ll also create room for the laughter, snuggles, funny expressions and unexpected interactions that show who you genuinely are together.
We’ll create the beautifully posed portraits where everyone looks amazing—and the wonderfully imperfect moments you never could have planned.
Why this matters: The goal isn’t to make your family look like everyone else’s. It’s to create portraits that feel unmistakably like your family. Kids can be kids. Dogs can be dogs. You don’t need to perform or behave perfectly.
3. Your Reveal & Ordering Appointment
After your session, I’ll carefully select and hand-edit your strongest portraits. Then we’ll meet again so you can experience them for the first time.
During your appointment, you’ll:
- See your finished portraits
- Choose the images you love most
- Compare artwork and album options
- Decide which portraits belong together
- See your images displayed on the walls of your own home
- Receive guidance choosing sizes, arrangements and finishes
You may laugh. You may cry. (I always have tissues!) You may discover that your favorite portrait is one you never expected.
Why this matters: Choosing photographs and artwork can feel overwhelming when you’re left to do it alone. I’ll help you narrow down your favorites and make confident decisions based on what you love, your home and what feels right for your family.
4. Your Finished Artwork
Once you’ve chosen your portraits, I’ll take care of transforming them into artwork created specifically for your home and family.
Your portraits will be professionally retouched and used to create custom wall art, portrait collections or an album designed around the images you love most. I’ll oversee the process, carefully inspect everything when it arrives and help make sure your artwork gets out of the box and into your life.

Your investment
A $325 creative fee reserves your portrait experience and includes your personalized planning consultation, portrait session, reveal and ordering appointment, and one matted 8×10 portrait.
Additional portraits and artwork are purchased separately. Wall art begins at $350, with albums and custom portrait collections also available. Clients typically invest around $1,200 or more in their complete portrait experience, depending on the artwork they choose.
